Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

Counselling may help if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, low in mood, or finding life difficult to manage on your own. You do not need to be in crisis to come to therapy with me — many people come for support, understanding, and a safe space to talk.

Do you work with couples and relationships?

Yes, I work with couples and people experiencing relationship difficulties. Sessions give you space to explore what is happening, how things are feeling, and what you would like to change or understand more clearly.

Do you work with young people?

Yes, I work with young people from age 13 upwards. I aim to offer a calm, supportive space where young people can talk openly and feel heard without judgment.

Where can I have counselling with you?

I offer counselling in person in Northwich, Cheshire, and online. There is on-site parking to the rear of the office, easy access to the therapy room, and a local bus service within around 400 yards.

Is your therapy room wheelchair accessible?

Yes — my therapy room is wheelchair accessible. If you would like to ask anything about access before arranging a session, I am always happy to talk it through with you.

Do you offer online counselling, and does it work as well as in person?

Yes, I offer online sessions. Online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face work for many people and many concerns. It can also make therapy easier to fit around work, family life, or travel.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no set number of sessions. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term counselling. We can review things as we go, so the process feels right for you.

Do I have to commit to weekly sessions?

No — you do not have to commit to weekly sessions. Some people prefer weekly support, while others find fortnightly sessions or a more flexible rhythm works better.

How much do you charge?

My current fees are £55 for one-to-one counselling, £75 for couples and relationship counselling, and £75 for counselling for young people. I also offer a discount when 4 or more sessions are booked and paid for in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session. If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the full session fee will usually still be payable.

Is everything we talk about confidential?

Yes, what you share with me is confidential. There are some rare exceptions — for example, if I am seriously concerned about your safety or someone else’s, or if I am required by law to share information — and I will explain these clearly at the beginning.
